Does it apply to me?

The Data Protection Act applies if you use CCTV to:

• see what an individual is doing
  (eg: monitoring them on site or in the street)
  
  
• take action against an individual
  (eg: giving images as evidence to the Police)
  
  
• use images of individuals in a way that affects their privacy (eg: passing images on to a TV company)

Most school CCTV is used for viewing and/or recording the activities of individuals and will be covered by the Data Protection Act (DPA)
